News from Innipúkinn Festival 2011

by Pu on July 25, 2011

OK, folks, there is less than a week left before Innipúkinn Festival starts. Since my last post, the lineup of Innipúkinn 2011 underwent some substantial changes. Last update was released just a few moments ago. A detailed program is not available yet, but I will have it posted as soon as it becomes available.

Anyway, here is the lineup:

Agent Fresco, Apparat Organ Quartet, Ari Eldjárn (stand up), Berndsen, Dúkkulísurnar, DJ Kool Burger, Evil Madness, Eyjólfur Kristjánsson, Hermigervill, Hugleikur Dagsson (stand up), Jónas Sigurðsson, Kippi Kaninus, Markús & the Diversion Sessions, Mr. Silla, Nolo, Ólöf Arnalds, Prinspóló (DJ set), Pascal Pinon, Sin Fang, Snorri Helgason, Sólstafir, Talnapúkinn (DJ set), Ugla Egilsdóttir (stand up), Valdimar.

Organizers put together a balanced selection of live acts which encompasses a variety of genres, from Icelandic folk to techno (they even threw in a few extras). Some of the names in the list are old acquaintances or regulars of Innipúkinn, which, with the years, evolved to become an event mainly focused on Icelandic music, sometimes not-so-well-known (too bad!). Big names are included in this year’s lineup (Apparat Organ Quartet, Ólöf Arnalds, Sin Fang, etc.), but Innipúkinn is especially a great occasion to get acquainted with musicians one could have overlooked.

Three-day passes are still available on Midi.is, so go and grab one if you’re in town this week-end. Passes to single dates will be available at Iðnó, this year’s venue. For quick updates and other fancy things, visit Innipúkinn on Facebook.
